Frederick L. Keller, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at the age of 89. Freddie was a native of Algiers and was a long time resident of Belle Chasse with his beloved wife of 69 yrs., Laura Lee Lotz Keller. He is survived by Laura Lee; his sons, Bill and Tom Keller (wife Linda); and daughter Kathy Keller Low (husband Tom) and his brother, J.B Keller. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Jeff and Chris Edwards, Kelly Edwards Ansardi, and Chancy Keller; and 11 great grandchildren. Freddie was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Hughes and Frederick Keller, Sr.; his brothers, Alfred and Gerald Keller; and sister, Marie Heindel.
Freddie graduated from Martin Behrman High School and served proudly in the US Navy on the USS Yorktown, CV-10, in the Pacific arena in WWII as an Aviation Ordinanceman. He was a dedicated member of the Yorktown Association and gave many years of service after retirement to preservation of the ship docked in Charleston. Freddie was retired from BellSouth (AT&T) and he and Laura Lee spent their retirement years camping extensively with friends and making new friends all around the U.S., Canada and Mexico. He was also an avid (to say the least) fisherman, spending his life dedicated to reeling in the big one.
The family wishes to thank Ceola for her wonderful care and love for our dad; also many thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Krystal and Megan.
