Garland Bernard Kliebert entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2014 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Beverly Orgeron Kliebert. Son of the late Leon Kliebert, Sr. and Elvina Bourgeois Kliebert. Loving father of Angelle Kliebert and Keith Kliebert (Wife Amy). Brother of Otis Kliebert (Wife, the late Helen), Buhel Kliebert (Wife Grace) and the late Allen Kliebert, Leon Kliebert, Jr., Amy Michelli, Eunice Lucia, Gertrude Kliebert, Rose Ballay and Velma Kliebert. Garland was born in Paulina, LA and resided in Marrero, LA. He was Past Commander of the VFW Post 9753 of Avondale, Secretary and Treasurer of VFW 9753 Overseas of Avondale; member of VFW 6793 of Westwego; Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus of Marrero Council 4222; Past President of 6 years for the Society of St. Vincent DePaul Westbank District Council and Secretary for Immaculate Conception Conference; and a member of the Monday Morning Bible Study Class. Garland received the 2014 Top Hat Award for Outstanding Vincentian with Immaculate Conception Conference. He also attended the Silent Retreat in Manresa for many years. Garland served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theatre while enlisted in the United States Army. He worked for 30 years at Chevron Chemical in Belle Chasse until his retirement. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society Immaculate Conception Conference in memory of Garland. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 9AM until 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:30AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
