Gary Michael Morvant

Gary Michael “Monty” Morvant lost his battle with pancreatic cancer and entered the Gates of Heaven December 15, 2012. Preceeding him in death are his mother, Leah Dena Dubret Morvant; his father Russell Joseph Morvant, Sr. and brothers Russell Joseph,
Jr. and Leon Paul Morvant. Living Siblings include Loretta Morvant Loup (husband Lloyd P. Loup), Sylvia Ann Morvant (David), Louise Morvant and Billy “Spider” Morvant. Also survived by Aunt Mame’ and Aunt Hilda, 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces and many cousins and dear longtime friends Keith Eccles, Mark LeGrand, Brad Gattuso, Howard Taylor and Chris Cuccia. Gary was employed by Uncle Charlie Sign Company, LeGrand Florist, Keith Eccles Art Studio, All Star Printing and Gattuso’s Restaurant and Bar. He also worked as a handyman and carpenter in the Old Gretna Neighborhood . Gary was a jack-of-all-trades. Many will miss his presence in the streets of Gretna. He was truly a one of a kind, a real Gretna Legend. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at St. Joseph Church, 610 6th Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11 AM. The Memorial Mass will follow at NOON. The family would like to specially thank Dr. Vijay Patel, the staff of Ferncrest Manor and Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion in Gary’s final weeks.
