Gayan Shell Juarez, age 64, went to heaven late Sunday evening, September 22, 2015 at her residence in Harvey, LA. She passed away peacefully in her sleep after battling malignant brain cancer for 2 years. She leaves behind her beloved of 45 years of marriage, Paul Juarez, and two daughters, Lauren, age 35, and Elicia, age 29.
Gayan was born on April 28, 1951 in Cody, Wyoming. Her parents, George Arthur Shell Sr. and Evelyn “Ollie” Olsen were her parents. She is survived by her sister, Jorjan Shell Woodward and husband Leroy Woodward of ND, her brother George Arthur Shell Jr. and wife Barbara of CO, her brother Gary Shell and Tambra of TX, and her brother Carl John “CJ” Shell and Amy of OR.
Gayan was working as a licensed realtor for Prudential, as well as taking higher education courses to become an ordained minister. She was an elder at her church Faith Presbyterian in Harvey, LA, and enjoyed leading Bible studies. Gayan was a certified Notary Public for the state of Louisana for 25 years. She was an officer in the Greater New Orleans Credit Association. She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, mentor, and friend…always loving with her whole heart. She will be dearly missed.
Her service, followed by a repast will be open to all on Sunday, October 4th, 2015 at 3:00pm. Both will be held at First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans located at 5401 S. Claiborne Ave., New Orleans, LA 70125. In lieu of memorials, we ask that memorials be given to Faith Presbyterian Church located at 2525 Apollo Drive in Harvey, LA.
