Geneva Cross Chance, 92,passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012. She is survived by her three children, William Kelly Chance and his wife Ann of Lafayette, Louisiana, Kenny Chance of New Orleans, Louisiana, Debby Chance Kennedy and her husband Richard of Lafayette, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Donna Chance, Stacey Chance Patin, Jeff Chance, Rick Kennedy and Matt Kennedy; and three great-grandchildren, Erin Patin, Victoria Kennedy, Addie Kennedy; sister Jewell Cox of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norris Chance, her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Cross; grandson, K.C. Chance; six brothers, Roy Cross, Thurlow Cross, Melvin Cross, Schuyler Cross, Nathan Cross, and twin brother, Gene Cross; two sisters, Arra Richmond, and Viola Cross. Geneva was born in Sebastien County, Arkansas and was a long-time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana before moving to Lafayette, LA in 2005. Geneva was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was an active volunteer with her church in New Orleans and was an accomplished seamstress. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral service at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11 AM. Dr. Hiram Campbell will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:00 am to time of service at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Memorial contributions can be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, P. O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 71211 or on their website, lbch.org.
