George Julius Jacobsen Sr.

George Julius Jacobsen, Sr., a native and lifelong resident of Gretna, LA, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Rita Waguespack Jacobsen. Loving father of Linda Rogers and George Jacobsen, Jr.( Laura). Father-in-law of Lucky Rogers. Grandfather of Jennifer Matrana (Chris), Melanie Ferguson (John), Nicole Romaire (John), Jaime Gannard (Joey) and Kelly Ramsak (Seth). Great grandfather of CJ Matrana, Jena Romaire, Hannah and Lindsey Ferguson, Brady Romaire, Jocee Gannard, Seth Ramsak, J.D. Gannard, one expected great grandchild and the late Joey Gannard, Jr. Brother of Emelda Griffin, the late Mildred Sisung, John S., Walter, Harold “Chick” and Roy Jacobsen, Sr. Son of the late Emma Guelfo Jacobsen and John P. Jacobsen. George was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran. He worked at Celotex for many years and retired from Zatarain’s. He enjoyed weekends fishing or at the hunting camp trying to get that “Big Buck”. George was an avid gardener and grew the biggest creole tomatoes.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Parlors will be open Saturday from 9 AM until 11 AM. The family would like to specially thank St. Joseph Hospice especially Ginger and Heather for their care and compassion. Also thanks to the Patriot Guard for their support of this family as well as many others.
