George O'Dowd

George O'Dowd passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Beloved husband for 30 years of the late Rose Marie Gruntz O'Dowd. Faithful partner of the late Elba Bergeron. Father of Kim O'Dowd Rollins, Peggy O'Dowd, Terry Lynch (Ed), G. Patrick O'Dowd (Kathryn), J. Michael O'Dowd (Ashleigh), Alphonse O'Dowd (Lori), and Timothy O'Dowd (Maria). Son of the late John Emmett O'Dowd and Agnes McCarthy O'Dowd. Brother of Beverly O'Dowd Donner, Antoinette Nenninger and the late Charles Lilly, John "Jack" Emmett O'Dowd, Jr. Brother in law of Emelda Charlet, Althea Heitmeier, Rita Claire Abbott (Granville), and the late Camille Hebert, Anna Mae Robicheaux, and Alphonse Gruntz. Also survived by 32 grandchildren, and 6 great granchildren. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Algiers Irish, and the Federal and New Orleans Bar Associations are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Algiers, LA on Friday, May 1 at 11am. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 11am. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Covenant House, 611 N.
