George A. Rau

George Albert Rau, age 91, of Gretna, LA passed away peacefully on April 5, 2014. George was a loving and loyal Husband, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his loving children, Peggy Bradford, George, Jr., Christopher and Brien. Father-in-law of Henry Bradford, Jennifer and Denise Rau. Grandfather of Hank, George, Jonathan, Stephanie, Wesley, Garrett, Gerard, Zachary, Jack and Luke. Great-grandfather of Chase, Natalie, Lalie, Lexie, Kale, Eva Ann, Elizabeth Katherine, Ellery and Summer. Brother of Minta Bush, Blase “Connie”, Wayne and the late Fredrick and Charles. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
George served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II and achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was a longtime local businessman, a founding member of Rau’s Ex-cel Printing, Inc. and George A. Rau & Co. in Gretna.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Anthony Catholic Church, corner Burmaster at Franklin Sts. in Gretna on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 10 AM until 12 Noon. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park.
