Georgia Marie Blanchard Durand of Marrero, La. passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 with family and friends by her side. She was born on May 31, 1928 to the late Phillip and Minnie Blanchard. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Earnest Blanchard, Eddie Joe Blanchard, Jean Harrell and Jane Leonard. Georgia was married for 72 years to the late Floyd Louis Durand, Jr. She was a devoted mother to the late Fredrick Louis Durand, Sr. (late Cathy), Catherine Elizabeth Bono (Vic), Susan Marie Tabor (Charles), David Lea Durand (late Tanya) (Colinda), Richard George Durand (late Sherry) and Floyd Louis Durand III (Melissa). Her many grandchildren Fred Durand, Jr. (Charlotte), Adam Durand (Tammy), Beth Taravella (Anthony), Vic Bono, III, Matt Tabor (Amy), Gini Mars (Josh), Meghann Givens (Ross), Gene Durand (Kristy), Lauren Durand, Lindsay Cade (Chris), Marisa Truitt (Jake), Brittany Houze (Justin), Floyd Durand IV and Noah Durand. Also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren.“MawMaw” was the backbone of the family and celebrated every Thanksgiving and Christmas with her huge family in her home - until she couldn’t. We all share such fond memories of her and “PawPaw” hosting these wonderful occasions together for so many years. She had so many talents. Among those were her love for sewing and designing. She was always ready to sew for her two daughters - even sewing their wedding dresses and entire trousseaus. Besides owning and running a hobby shop with Floyd, she was an extremely talented artist. She loved drawing and painting and has many masterpieces to show for it. Her love of painting was obvious as she continued her craft for as long as she could. Special thanks to Jane and her staff at Tranquil Living. Also thanks to Gail and everyone with Compassus Hospice. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 11 AM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until 11 AM.
