Gerald Joseph Fayard, Sr., a lifelong resident of New Orleans and Marrero, passed away on January 6, 2014 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife Ellen Walker Fayard, daughters Amanda and Leanne Fayard, sons Justin, Gerald “Jerry” Jr. (Paula), Gary, Ricci (Karen), Keith (Kim), Timothy (Tracy) and Thomas (Tammy) Fayard. Son to the late Harold Sr. and Ruby Guitard Fayard of New Orleans. Brother to Margaret Fayard Richmond (Carroll), Ruby Fayard, and the late Harold Fayard Jr. and the late Aurelio Fayard. Father-in-law to the late Stephanie Fayard. Brother-in-law to Andrea Walker and Eileen Walker Welsh (Pat). He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gerald graduated from Loyola and was retired from the NOPD, proud to have served for 25 years. He served with the Air National Guard. He was also a former real estate appraiser, and worked in security for Winn Dixie and New Orleans Private Patrol. He enjoyed SCUBA diving, but most of all cracking jokes and cutting up with his family and friends. He always did whatever he could to take care of his family, and he is and always will be loved and missed. Thank you Chris Smits, a great friend to Gerald, and to Gerald’s dart pals, especially Kelly. He enjoyed being with you all. Thanks to Stephen King and Geoff Bagala for being a part of our family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd. Marrero, LA, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Roch #1 Cemetery, New Orleans.
