Gerald E. “Jerry” Mataya, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of 50 years to Bernadine Rogers Mataya. Son of the late Alfred Mataya and Irma Melancon Mataya. Father of Gerald E. Mataya, Jr. (Wife Patsy), Melissa Burns (Husband Dave) and Julie Galle (Husband Todd). Brother of Marcelle Oquain and the late Al, Normand, Dwight, Raymond, Jimmy Mataya, Marion Folse, Eva Mysick and Mercedes Mataya. Grandfather of Amanda, Donald Jr., Kayla, Cody, Chris, Samantha, Summer, Cade, Trace and Rhys. Great Grandfather of Cheyenne. Jerry was born in New Orleans and resided in Harvey, LA. He was Superintendent of the Department of Water Works for the City of Gretna where he retired after 28 1/2 years of service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 9AM until 11AM.
