Gerald Usey, Sr.

Gerald Usey Sr., was called home to be with the Lord on May 17^th, 2024 at the age of 81.  Gerald was a native of Algiers, Louisiana and a resident of Terrytown at the time of his passing.  Beloved husband of the late Linda L. Usey. Father of Gerald P. Usey Jr.(Kathy) and Kirk P. Usey (Raye).  Paw Paw to Bailey, Gage and Tanner Usey and an Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also survived by his beloved dog “Baby Girl”.   The family would also like to give special thanks to Delma Gaudet for her loving care and support of Gerald for the last three years.  Also, special thanks to Passages Hospice for all of their help and care in his time of need.

Preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Edward and Jeanne Usey; Sisters, Rita, Ester, Ethel, Geraldine, Shirley, and Mary and Brothers, Robert, Norman, Joe, Earl, and Raymond.

Gerald, aka Duck, worked as a skilled carpenter for many years. He crafted many floats for Blaine Kern Studios.  He enjoyed going to his fishing and hunting camps all while smoking his cigars. He made many special friends along the way, especially his partner in crime Rocky Ramagos.

He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all.  The Family invites relatives and friends to celebrate his life. Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, La. 70058 on Wednesday May 22, 2024 from 6pm-9pm with viewing to continue on Thursday May 23, 2024 from 9am-11am with a Mass to follow in the Chapel at Mothe Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider donations in his name to the American Diabetes Association.
