Geraldine "Jerry" Smith Rials

Geraldine “Jerry” Hanberry Smith Rials, age 83, entered into eternal and peaceful rest with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013. She was a resident of Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center in New Orleans, LA. Mrs. Rials was born on January 9, 1930 in Mt. Herman, Louisiana. She is the loving and devoted mother of Sylvia Gill Taylor, Maxine Smith Cormier (Gerald), Martha Smith Maddox (Harold), Harry Preston Smith (Karla) and Clara Smith Frelich (Frank). Grandmother of Victor Wayne Taylor Jr. (Karen), Patricia Cormier Haydel (Christopher), Damien Michael Taylor, Nichole Maddox Lua (Marc), Gerald Cormier Jr. (Michelle Kass), Jonathan Thomas Frelich (Rita), Michael Joseph Frelich (Corrine) and Dakoda Preston Smith. Great Grandmother of Marciana Lua, Royce Frelich, Mason Haydel. Step Great Grandmother of Angelina Lanza. Sister of Wilda Lee Hill and Melba Haley. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Jerry is preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Hanberry, Vertlee Schillings Hanberry Stephens; a brother, Percell Stephens; a grandchild, Patrick Lee Taylor and a great grandchild, Bryant M. Rider. Jerry was a waitress at Dreamland Restaurant in Buras and River Breeze Restaurant in Belle Chasse. She was also a personal sitter for Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs, LA. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center, 5600 General DeGaulle Drive, New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 from 1PM until 3PM. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 3PM. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mausoleum, Belle Chasse, LA. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA in charge of arrangements.
