Gerard Harry Schonekas Jr.

Gerard Harry Schonekas, Jr. born March 30,1927, passed away on February 26, 2013. Beloved husband of Mary Jenny Schonekas. Loving father of Gerard III (wife Donna), Rhonda Leger (husband Mark) and Janelle Schonekas. Loving “Paw Paw” of ten grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great grandchild and (one to be). Also survived by many other relatives and friends. Gerard was a Veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy and a graduate of Tulane University in Mechanical Engineering. He was a long standing member of St. Bernard Pistol and Rifle range, as well as a reserve officer with Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Kenner Police Department. Gerard was a die hard Saints and Notre Dame fan. He was also a Boeing clown club member. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital are preferred. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend Funeral Mass in the chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 1 PM. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 PM until 9 PM and Saturday from 11 AM until 1 PM. Interment will be private.
