Gilroy P. Moreau

Gilroy P. Moreau entered into eternal rest at Heritage Manor of Opelousas on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Bertha Barrios Moreau. Son of the late Bertrand L. Moreau and Louise Dufour Moreau. Father of Larry J. Moreau (Juana) and Carrie M. O’Shaughnessy (Mike). Survived by 1 grandchild, Larry Moreau, Jr. Beloved friend of Louise and Lloyd Brignac, Gwen Masters and the late Charles Masters. He is also survived by his beloved longtime caregivers, Debra Turner, Nadja Ellis and Karla Harlem. Gilroy was a member of the American Legion Post 206 of Westwego, LA. He was a Sheriff’s Deputy for Jefferson Parish for many years. He also served in World War II in the United States Army for 4 years as Staff Sergeant. He received 3 Battle Stars and 5 Metals. He was born in Bunkie , LA and was a lifelong resident of the Westbank until Hurricane Katrina. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Services at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery , 1225 Whitney Avenue , Gretna , LA on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2PM.
