Glenn James Camardelle, “Big Dog,” age 53, a native of New Orleans and a long-time resident of Waggaman, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Hospital on May 6, 2012, at 2:33 am surrounded by family and friends. Glenn lost his battle to liver and kidney disease after a long and courageous fight. Employed by Jefferson Parish Recreation Department for 24 years, Glenn was the Supervisor of Waggaman Playground where he loved coaching and mentoring the kids in various sports. His devotion and dedication to the playground was unmatched. He will be missed terribly. He was a member of the Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics, Waggaman Civic Association, Waggaman Development Group, Waggaman Playground Booster Club, and a past member of the Waggaman Jaycees. Preceded in death by his grandparents Landry Sr. and Bernice Camardelle and Justy and Lorena Dufrene and his daughter Holly Ann Camardelle. Survivors include his parents Landry Jr. and Genevie (Jenny) Camardelle, his devoted wife of 33 years Anita Malone Camardelle who stood by his side through it all, daughters Amanda Babin (Wendell) and Heather Camardelle, grandchildren Alissa and Bryce Babin, siblings Randy Camardelle (Lauren), Paula Camardelle Smith (Michael), and Shelley Camardelle DeGeorge (Larry) and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Godchild of Vera Dufrene Acosta and the late Ted Camardelle. Godfather of Jordyn Smith and Peyton Camardelle. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Ochsner Hospital, especially the Transplant and ICU Departments. Special thanks to Tracy and Nicole for always making Glenn smile.
