Gloria R. Jackson 01/08/44- 10/30/24
Gloria R. Jackson, age 80, of Marerro, Louisiana, passed away peacefully, on October 30, 2024, surrounded by family. Gloria Jackson was born Gloria Reinhardt, on January 8, 1944, in Crowley, Louisiana, to parents Eva Rider Ballard from Guy, Louisiana, and father, Sonny James Reinhardt from Robert Cove, Louisiana. They started their family in Crowley, Louisiana, where Gloria and her sister, Sandra were born. Gloria attended grammar school in Pine Prairie and graduated in Lake Arthur in 1961. Shortly after, she met Harold G. Greene and they married in 1962. They settled down and had three children Melanie, Michael, and Michelle, in Kenner, Louisiana. In 1985, Gloria moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where she was introduced to the Pentecostal church and was baptized. Gloria accepted God as her Lord and Savior and read her bible every morning with her coffee. She was an active member of her Pentecostal church faithfully from 1985 until she was no longer able to attend in person in 2021. Gloria enjoyed fishing, painting, arts and crafts, and listening to Gospel music. She had strong religious and family values, and a strong work ethic. In later stages of her life, she was able to spend time individually between each of her children and sets of grandchildren, which was her greatest happiness. Remaining to cherish Gloria’s memory are, her sister Sandra Ledet, her children Melanie Walker, Michael Greene, and Michelle Sutherland. She is also survived by her grandchildren, James Walker, Cheryl Walker, Anthony Sutherland, Tabitha Sutherland, and Chrysanthe Greene and several great-grandchildren. Preceding in death are Harold Greene, and her parents Eva and Sonny Reinhardt. Gloria’s family would like to thank the staff at Passages Hospice for their continued care and support of Gloria Jackson.
