Gloria Heitmeier Thompson

Gloria Sarah Heitmeier Kepner Thompson passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2023 at the age of 98. She was born to the late Jeremiah Herman Heitmeier and Bernadetta Difatso Heitmeier on her father’s birthday, July 5, 1924.  She is predeceased by her husband of 33 years, James P. Thompson and her former husband of 31 years, Sewall K. “Bob” Kepner, Jr. MD; her son, Sewall K. “Bobby” Kepner III; her sister, Myrtle Heitmeier Stalcup (late Jake) and stepson, James Michael “Mike” Thompson (Karla). She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Kepner Kerst (Victor) and Mary Ann Kepner Singletary (Michael); her grandchildren, Kenneth J. Kerst (Alisha) and Laurie Kerst Hebert (Brian); great-grandchildren, Kaden J. Kerst, Korah C. Kerst, Arianna L. Hebert and Adaline J. Kerst; her step children, Deborah Luhrs and Barry Thompson (Barbara).Beloved Aunt of Jerry S. Stalcup (Frances) and Great Aunt to Claudia S. Long (Chris) and Shelley S. Hughes (Chris) and their children, Jack and Bailey Long and Abby Grace,  Dixon, Grant and Madeline Claire Hughes. Gloria enjoyed gardening, dancing and partying. Later in life she enjoyed many cruises, traveling the globe to attend PBY Catalina reunions and the yearly Thompson family reunions. Her greatest passion was cooking and sharing all her Sunday and holiday dinners with her family. Gloria loved her family dearly and tried to stay on this earth as long as she could until our dear Lord called her home. She was the last living Heitmeier from Algiers of her generation as was her father of his generation in 1984. Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Jenny LeBlanc at St. Michael’s Home Health and John Singletary for helping keep our mom safe and sound during her last years.
