Gus Joseph Talamo passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on April 7, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Beloved husband of Sylvia Vidonne Talamo for 62 years. Father of Terry J. Talamo (Robin), Danny G. Talamo, Ricky J. Talamo (Joni) and Vickie Talamo Smith (Kevin). Grandfather of Rusty, Rachelle (Christopher), Terrill (Shanna), Trey, Patrick, Caroline and Taylor. Great-grandfather of Parker, Aubree, Harper, Cole, Hudson and Graham. Brother of Betty Talamo Young (the late Charles) and the late Buddy J. and Kelly J. Talamo. Son of the late Laura DiPascal Talamo and Joseph Talamo. Also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Gus served his country in the U.S. Army and upon his honorable discharge, worked for Johns-Manville. He later joined his father and brothers in the used auto parts business and auto sales where he remained active until weeks before his death. He made a bid for State Representative, District 87 in 1983. As a devout Catholic, Gus attended daily Mass at St. Rosalie Church in Harvey and was very involved in his home church of Immaculate Conception. He was a longtime member of the Italian-American Society of Jefferson and New Orleans as well as the Banter Fraternity of Westwego. Gus was a fixture in and around the Westbank in business, civic and Church organizations and functions however, his life was dedicated to spending time with his children and grandchildren and entertaining close friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives, friends and employees of Riverside Used Auto Parts (formerly Buddy’s Auto Salvage), Jefferson Parish Government, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office are invited to attend the visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh Street in Marrero on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 9:30 AM to 1 PM.
