Gussie Mae Myles “Groove” Marioneaux was born on July 14, 1931 in New Orleans, LA. She transitioned into heavens gate on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the graceful age of 83. She was born to the late Latisha Bannister and Charlie Myles. Preceded before her birth is her loving and devoted brother Deacon Mack Thornton; who she loved and respected deeply. She worked at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA for over twenty-five years as a receptionist. During that time she helped indigent and homeless patients.
Sister Gussie loved the LORD. For many years she attended First Zion Baptist Church in Shrewsbury, Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend Ivory. She was united in marriage to the late Lawrence Marionauex Jr. to this union 8 children were born; Lawrence Marioneaux III (Sandra, deceased), Tyrone Marioneaux (Ester), Marie Esteen (John), Rosemary Marioneaux-Edwards (Blair, deceased), Edwin Marioneaux Sr. (Mercedes), Theresa Thompson (Ricky). She was proceeded in death by her sons Spencer and Anthony Marioneaux.
Throughout her adult life she displayed the character of Christ. She attended several charismatic churches and attended Bible Studies. She often encouraged her children and grandchildren to attend church and read their bibles. She had a love for all children and animals.
Her son Lawrence Marioneaux took care of her when she needed him the most for 8 years; until last year when she moved to Avondale, Arizona with her daughter Rosemary and granddaughter Kewanna who selfishly cared for her every minute of the day. This also allowed her to live close to her daughters, Marie and Theresa who cared for their mother also. Her grand and great grandchildren were near and gave a hand. She is survived by a host of grand, great, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and family.
Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Services will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Providence Park Cemetery in Metairie, LA. For directions or to view and sign the online guest book, please visit:
