Guy Benjamin Ribando passed away peacefully while surrounded by family in prayer on May 19, 2024 at the age of 70.
Guy is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Darlene Delaune Ribando, his four children Angela, Regina (Steven), Maria (Tara), and Russell (Brandi) and his favorite people on Earth, his grandchildren Dustin (Moinet), Maddalena, Sofia, Faith, Bella, Delaune, Gianna, Steven Guy and great-granddaughter, Ellie. Survivors also include his mother, Manuella Bonura Ribando, and siblings, Lisa (George), Kathy (Jerry), Gina (Neil), Russell Jr. (Julie) and sister-in-law, Debbie (Phil). Guy is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and countless relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Russell T. Ribando, MD; father-in-law, Robert J. Delaune; mother-in-law, Bernita LaCour Delaune; and nephew, Big Bad Ben Ribando.
Guy was a loving and devoted family man who absolutely adored his grandchildren, so much so that when asked his favorite color he would respond “Maddalena and Sofia.” Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He would often say his family was his hobby.
Guy owned and operated Ribando’s Electric Supply in Marrero for 48 years. He was a prominent figure in the Westbank community as a businessman and a local leader. He would stop at nothing to help out his family members and anyone who came to him for guidance. He always had the answer for everything and found joy in helping all who came to him with their questions. Guy took every opportunity to support the Catholic Church, local schools, fairs, events and those in need. He will be sadly missed, but his life and legacy will live on through his family and friends. He was a member of the Italian-American Society of Jefferson and the 49ers.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Cardiovascular Institute of the South, specifically Dr. Owen Mogabgab, Dr. Ahmad Jabbar, Physician Assistant Nicholas Pandis, and Nurse Practitioner Stephanie Worth.
Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 9:00am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place immediately after Mass at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause that was close to Guy’s heart.
