Harold Frederick Knecht, Jr "Bubba"

Harold Frederick Knecht Jr, "Bubba", born in New Orleans, LA on October 27, 1934, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 89 at his home surrounded by family. Bubba was a native of New Orleans and resided in Gretna, La and then later moved to Pearl River, La where he lived for the last 25 years. 

He is the beloved husband of 25 years to Martha C. Knecht by second marriage and the late Ruby Mae Knecht (Val) for 42 years. He is the son of the late Harold F. Knecht Sr and Le Irma Hornung Knecht. Loving father of Harold F. Knecht III (Gene), Karl G. Knecht (wid: Debra) and Therese K. Adams (Troy). Loving grandfather of Harold F. Knecht IV, Shayne E. Usey, Amanda J. Usey and Sarah N. Alberio (Jonathan).Bubba is survived by his only sister, Lucy Knecht Pittman and her husband, Carroll of Jefferson, LA; and a sister-in-law, Joe Ann Knecht of Luling, LA. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth J. Knecht Sr., Donald H. Knecht Sr. and Donald's wife Linda P. Knecht. Loving uncle of a host of nieces and nephews, as well as in-laws.

Bubba was a member of Mandeville Christian Fellowship Church. He also was a member of the William D. White Masonic Lodge #408 F&AM. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Bubba retired after 43 years from Avondale Shipyards as a pipefitter foreman. Bubba loved hunting, fishing and trawling, as well as playing the saxophone, and listening to jazz music. He served as a Boy Scout Master for Gretna Troop 44. He was a father figure, a teacher, a mentor, and a friend to many.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 1st at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, La. Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Wednesday October 2nd visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Interment to immediate follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1255 Whitney Ave, Gretna, LA.
