Hazel Rebstock Dewey

November 14, 1931 — August 2, 2024

In loving memory of Hazel Dewey, who graced this world on November 14, 1931, in New Orleans LA, and departed peacefully on August 2, 2024, in Marrero, LA. Hazel was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her.

Hazel's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to her family and a spirit of warmth that touched everyone she met. She was the supportive wife of Ruffin Dewey. They shared many adventures together and traveled the world together. Hazel's life was a testament to resilience.

A true matriarch, Hazel's legacy lies in the nurturing care she showered upon her loved ones. She will be remembered for her love for her Girl Scout troop, never missing the chance to cheer on the Saints, and her knack for bringing laughter and joy to any gathering.

Hazel's vivacious personality was infectious - she was the life of the party, always welcoming others with open arms. Her honesty, humor, and understanding nature endeared her to many. A well-traveled soul, she found joy in spending time with family and friends while savoring local seafood and engaging in games of dominos.

Preceded in death by her parents Harris T. Rebstock and Margaret Stokes Rebstock, as well as her sister Zenobia Rebstock Alario and husband Ruffin J. Dewey; Hazel leaves behind a profound legacy cherished by her surviving family. She is survived by her daughter Celeste Choquette (Mark) and son Sky Dewey (Heidi), along with her beloved grandchildren: Mark Choquette Jr (Kaila), Matthew Choquette (Hope), Chipper Choquette (Christine), Cortnie Dewey Huey (Michael), Cameron Choquette (Lauren); great-grandchildren: Hudson Choquette, Barrett Choquette, Andin Choquette, Anastasia Choquette, Remy Choquette, Austin Huey, Maddie Choquette, Hazel Choquette, Boone Choquette, Maeve Choquette.
