Hazel Weathers

Hazel Marie Gros Weathers, 90 of Gretna passed away peacefully early Friday morning May 27, 2011 in her home of natural causes. She worked for the Jefferson Parish Recreational Department for 15 years where she taught ceramics and for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for 17 years where she served as an administrative assistant for Sheriff Harry Lee until she retired in 1995. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Women’s Club at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gretna. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Weathers; parents Armand and Louise Gros; two brothers Armand and Chester and son George Edward Weathers. She is survived by her children, Joseph Henry Weathers, Jr., Carroll Wayne Weathers and Julie Ann Weathers Spiers; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Addison and Jo Ann Weathers; five grandchildren, Emily Weathers Hunt, Wendy Weathers Brogdon, Heather Weathers Chaffin, George Weathers, Jr., Katie Spiers McCarron and Melissa Limjuco; four great-grandchildren, Laura Anne Duncan, Joshua Lee Jones, Bryce Edward Duncan and Jenna Limjuco; and one great-great granddaughter, Brynleigh Grace Jones. The family sends special thanks to Miss Vear Burns and Miss Evelyn Stokes, her devoted caregivers and the Amedysis Hospice Care for their compassion and kindness. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 Sixth Street in Gretna for 2 PM. Interment will take place at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna.
