Helen Comeaux Ditta passed away on March 20, 2014 at the age of 96 years. Beloved mother of Gerald Ditta (Carolyn) and Carroll Goldstein (Neil). Grandmother of Gerald Ditta, Jr.,Terri Ditta, Linda Ditta, Chris Ditta and Sean Goldstein. Great-grandmother of Thomas Turner, Jr.,Taylor Turner, Christopher Ditta, Matthew Ditta, and Alisha Baker, Isabelle Goldstein and Aiden Goldstein. Great-great-grandmother of River and Faith Baker. Predeceased in death by Pete Ditta, beloved husband of 53 years, Marcellain Comeaux, father and Elvina Carroll Comeaux, mother, as well as sisters Cecile Marcello, Ruth Rini and brother Joe Comeaux.
A lifelong resident of the West Bank, member of St. Rosalie Church, and long time employee of Maison Blanche, Helen lived with class, dignity, and vigor. A perpetual Bingo winner, she regularly drove herself to the games, where (usually) she'd return with her pockets heavier. Helen lived an independent life, loved traveling and lived for Mardi Gras. Eternally devoted to her family, her loyal caretaker Elena, and her little dog Joy, Helen lived each day by her mantra, "Time is not measured by the years we live, but by the deeds we've done and the joy we give."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Rosalie Catholic Church, 600 2nd Avenue, Harvey, LA 70058.
