Helen Elizabeth Erwin Smith

Helen Elizabeth Smith, age 74 of Gretna, LA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2015. She spent her last days surrounded by family and friends at Ochsner Westbank Medical Center. Helen was an 8+ member of the Gretna Senior Center and attended multiple functions including Bingo, which she loved. She considered her most important job as being a mother and “Mammaw” to her children and grandchildren. Helen is survived by her daughter, Dottie Matlock and husband Steven Matlock of Gretna, LA; her son Andra Streho and wife Debbie Streho of Eccles, WV; her Granddaughters, Erin Streho of New Orleans, LA; Elizabeth Matlock of Joplin, MO and her 3 grandsons, Kenneth Matlock of Gretna, LA; Michael Matlock of Gretna, LA and Paul Streho of Roundup, MT. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Smith, her parents, Dorothy M. Erwin and Wylie G. Erwin and her brother, Denzil L. Erwin. Funeral Services and interment will be held privately. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
