Henry Joseph Becnel, Sr. passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. Beloved husband of Betty Smith Becnel for 63 years. Father of Maurice Becnel (the late Linda), Roland Becnel (Rhonda), Henry Becnel, Jr. (Sue), Kevin Becnel, Sr. (Karen), and Anne Treadaway (Michael). Grandfather of Christian, Danielle, Sarah, Kyle, Alaina, Kevin Jr. , Brandon, Stephan, and Luke. Great grandfather of Asher Joseph. Son of the late Joseph Becnel and Ernestine Prendergast Becnel. Brother of Yvette Bisso, and the late Catherine Brown and Gail Gros. Age 83 years, a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Gretna for the past 57 years. He was retired from the railroad after 42 years and was a member of AARP in Belle Chasse.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Cletus Catholic Church, Gretna, LA on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 12 noon. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be at church from 10:30 AM until 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
