Herbert Frank Bennerfield Jr.

Herbert Frank “Bud” Bennerfield, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his residence in Gretna after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of the late Ramona Joy Mae Crosby Bennerfield. Father of Monita Ann Bennerfield, Carol Bennerfield Hoadley (Kenton), and Rev. Herbert Frank Bennerfield, III. Grandfather of Brian Paul Matherne (Kristi), Melissa Ann Hoadley, Allison Hoadley Fink (Jeremy), Christy Matherne Loustalot (Thomas), and John Bennerfield Hoadley. Great-grandfather of Madison Joy Matherne, Lauren Nicole Matherne, and Amelia Hope Loustalot. Son of the late Herbert Frank Bennerfield, Sr. and Edna Wilty Bennerfield. Brother of Bernadine Bennerfield Capdeville and the late Laura Bennerfield Sprinkle. Age 92, a native and lifelong resident of Gretna, Louisiana.
Mr. Bennerfield was a World War II veteran who served in the Navy aboard the U. S. S. Hazard A.M. 240. He graduated from Tulane University with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. He was a retired manager of Louisiana State Employment Services, a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was an elder and a dedicated volunteer for fifty years, and was active in many community groups and organizations.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral visitation at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 418 4th Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10 AM until funeral service time at 11 AM.
