Herman Gabriel Hebert, Age 90 of Marrero, LA entered into his eternal rest on Friday, May 20 at Canon Hospice in Elmwood, LA. He was born March 25, 1926 in Larose, LA to Pavie Hebert & Georgina Savoie. Mr. Herman spent his early years in Larose before joining the Navy at 18 to serve in the Pacific Theater of World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved to Marrero to join his brother Woodrow and was a resident for over 65 years. During those years, Mr. Herman worked for Texas Iron Works (TIW) where he was known as "The Peanut Man" and retired after over 50 years of service.He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 45 years, Lilly M. Hebert (formerly Kristaponeta) of Lithuania. Mr. & Mrs. Hebert have one child, Linda H. Buffone (Warren); two grandchildren: Rene N. Oubre, Jr. and Lisa O. Tullier (Richard); and two great-granchildren: Aden Oubre and Richard Tullier, III. Mr. Herman is survived also by this sister Dolores H. Griffin and brother Jimmy Hebert (Nancy). He is preceded by brothers Norman, Woodrow, Wilfred, Harris, and Bertram; and sisters Enola H. Bouvier and Norma H. Martin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service at Visitation of Our Lady Church in Marrero, LA where he was a long time parishioner and usher. Internment will follow at Westlawn Cemetary in Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canon Hospice. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 3500 Ames Blvd. at Barataria Blvd., Marrero, LA on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 10:30AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Visitation of Our Lady Catholic Church on Tuesday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
