Hilton John Arcement, age 88 passed away May 11, 2015. Mr. Arcement was a native of Gretna, LA. Son of Adeline Dugruise Arcement Allemand and Sylvester Arcement, step son of Abel Allemand. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gail B. Lorio Arcement, and his brothers, Johnny Arcement (Rosemary), and Alton Arcement (Rose). He is survived by his daughter Barbara Arcement. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Arcement was a World War II veteran who served with the 37th Special Naval Construction Battalion and the 20th Naval Construction Battalion as a Seabee Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He also served in the 53rd Naval Construction Battalion that was took part in Operation Crossroads at the Bikini Atolls in the Marshall Islands. He is also a veteran of the Korean War during which he served aboard the USS Gloucester (PF-22). Arcement worked on tug boats and worked as an auto mechanic at Pasatina’s and then at Himel’s Auto repair, he also worked for the Jefferson Parish Streets Department as a bridge tender and maintenance man on the Lapalco Bridge from 1976 until his retirement in 1989. Arcement is a member of the American Legion Harvey-Marrero Post No. 222; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Westwego Post No. 6793; he was a former member of Woodmen of the World Lodge 620, Westwego; and the Cajun French Music Association.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 9 AM to 1:30 PM. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (
