Hosea “Joe” Soileau entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the age of 79 after a long battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Husband of the late Johann O’Brien Soileau by first marriage and the late Alice Lynne Ahten Soileau by second marriage. Son of the late Hosea Joseph Soileau, Sr. and Amy Vidrine Soileau. Father of Amy Peralta (Steve), Yvette Soileau (Andrew Rogaczewski), Joseph Soileau, John Soileau and Kevin Soileau. Grandfather of Danny (Michelle), Meagan, Cody, Maycee and Sara. Great Grandfather of Sophia and Danielle. Brother of Ellen Guidry (L.J. Landry)of Marrero, Eula Chapman of Ville Platte and the late Floyd Soileau, Calvin Soileau, Atward Soileau and James “Jim” Soileau. “Joe” was a native of Ville Platte, LA and a resident of New Orleans and Gretna, LA since 1955. He served his country in the US Navy while serving in the Korean War. He is a retired Senior Fire Captain with the New Orleans Fire Department where he served with honor for 26 years. The family would like to thank the Staff of Serenity Hospice and Ochsner Westbank Hospital for the love and care given to “Joe” during his illness. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 9AM until 11:30AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30AM in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
