Hugh Pierce Champagne, Jr.
Artisan and jeweler, died on Friday, December 19, 2014, at age 58.
A native of New Orleans and a recent resident of Mandeville. Beloved son of the late Clare Lynn Gray Champagne and Dr. Hugh Pierce Champagne (Cathy). Oldest brother of the late Mary Louise ‘Mary Lou’ Champagne, Mary Clare Therese ‘Terri’ Champagne, Michael L. Champagne (Leslie), Stephen P. Champagne (Jana), David W. Champagne, and Mary Patricia ‘Patti’ Champagne Cox (Michael). Proud uncle of Patrick C. Sudderth (Tracy), Michael L. Champagne, Jr., Michael S. Cox, Jr., Lauren E. Cox and Jadyn G. Champagne and grand uncle to Steven P. Sudderth.
Many thanks to the caregivers at Carrington Place and Notre Dame Hospice, as well as to all of Hugh’s loving friends, in particular, Chuck, Julie and Craig.
A graduate of Holy Cross High School (1974), he was a musician (trumpet and French horn) in the Tiger Band. In lieu of flowers, donations in Hugh’s memory may be made to the Holy Cross Tiger Band, 5500 Paris Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Name of Mary Church, 400 Verret St., Algiers, LA on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow.
