Ione Buras Ratcliff

Ione Buras Ratcliff passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 86 years. She was a native of Venice, LA and resided in Algiers, LA since 1966. Ione, also known as Lovey, was born on August 18, 1927 to Zelonie Ban Buras and Chauvin Norbert Buras. She was the beloved wife of John Wesley Ratcliff for 63 years. Loving mother of Tommie Lee Hildebrand (Joseph) and Debora Ratcliff Spezio. Grandmother of Michael Mudge, Jr. (Regina), Christina Spezio Cresson (Jeffrey) and Kimberly Spezio. Great-grandmother of Claire, Grace and Collin Mudge. Survived by siblings, Isabelle Buras Ellis (the late Jimmy) and Chauvin Joseph Buras.
While homemaking and caring for her children and grandchildren were her passions, she enjoyed being an Avon Representative and achieved the Presidential Award for many years while focusing her service on the elderly, shut-ins, senior centers and assisted living centers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 PM to 10 PM, resuming on Wednesday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
