Isabel Huber Lapeyronnie was 93 years old when Our Savior called her home Sunday May 22, 2016. She was born in New Orleans on October 8th in the year of our Lord 1922; to German parents Anthony A. Huber Sr. and Theresa Hammer Huber. She was the granddaughter of Adam T. Huber & Barbara Reuther, and William A Hammer & Catherine Rittler.
She was married to Roy Louis Lapeyronnie Sr. for a devoted 35 years and preceded in death by her siblings Ann Andrasco, Cornelius Frank, and Anthony Adam Jr. all who anxiously awaited her arrival.
Isabel embarked on her final journey home surrounded by her loved ones, who took comfort in knowing that she was no longer bound by pain and sorrow; but now in the loving arms of our merciful Savior Jesus Christ. Her life is remembered with great joy by her children Ann L. St. Pierre, son-in-law Norman, Linda L. Landry, son-in-law Byron, and son Roy Louis Lapeyronnie Jr., daughter-in-law Dafne Gemmell.
Isabel was a wonderful grandmother to Roy Anthony, wife Heather Kuehne, Krista Angelique, David Joseph, and Laura St. Pierre Slavich, husband Frank. And was blessed to have loving great-grandchildren Roy Jacob, Madelyn Jane, Brendan Trey, Brayden Louis, and Julia Marin Slavich.
She retired from Jefferson Parish School Board after 32 years of service. She was active in the Gretna Historical Society, Gretna German Society, A.A.R.P. and volunteered at Meadowcrest/Ochsner Hospital for 23 years.
Isabel’s departure leaves a great emptiness on this earth, for she was one of a kind and the Lord spared nothing in creating such a beautiful, graceful soul. As a wife there could not have been a more loving, devoted soul mate. As a daughter she was loved and protected, as a mother there was no equal. As a grandmother and great-grandmother she will be remembered forever.
Please join us in celebrating her extraordinary life, her loves, and our cherished memories of Isabel H. Lapeyronnie.
