Ivy Ann McCrossen Dowell

Ivy Ann McCrossen Dowell, born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 31, 1947, age 76 lost a courageous battle of 7 years with leukemia on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Beloved wife of David J. Dowell, Sr. for 59 years. Daughter of the late Ivan and Doris McCrossen. Mother of David J. Dowell, Jr. (Brandi), Darren P. Dowell (Kim) and Bryan S. Dowell. Loving sister of John P. McCrossen (Lucinda) and Anthony McCrossen (Karen). Grandmother of Alyssa, Carlie, Heaven, Ivan and Lola. Special best friend of Carolyn Kass and Iris Isemann. Sister-in-law of Ginger. Ivy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Staff at Tulane Medical Center, Dr. Safah and Infusion Center Nurses for the care given to Ivy. She loved to cook for holidays and especially big Sunday dinners. She enjoyed casino trips, loved LSU baseball and football games and always had time for others to share and help out. She attended Gretna Jr. High School and became Homecoming Queen. She had a special place in her heart for caring for children and she worked in a daycare in Harvey, Louisiana. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 9AM until 11AM. A Memorial Mass will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11AM. Memorial Interment will be in Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, Louisiana.
