Jack Douglas Lagarde passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones at home after a long illness on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the age of 77. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Terrytown, LA for the past 47 years. He was the beloved husband of Jean Melancon Lagarde for 50 years. Loving father of Jack Christopher Lagarde and father in law of Rachelle B. Lagarde. Jack is also survived by his brother, Donald Lagarde; his sister-in-law, Suzanne Thompson and her husband, Eric A. Thompson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack H. Lagarde and Myrtle K. Lagarde; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Patureau Vincent and Kathleen Lagarde. Jack served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. He retired from the Times Picayune Publishing Company after 40 years in Retail Advertising. He was an avid fisherman and loved gourmet cooking and traveling. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
