James Theodore Badeaux, Jr. deceased at the age of 89 on June 10, 2017. He was born in New Orleans, LA and died in New Orleans at Ochsner/Baptist Hospital. Survived by first cousins, Annette Corkern LeBlanc (Nolan), Hazel Corkern Gaudet (Calvin), Louise Corkern Davenport (Charles), Carolyn Corkern Huerstel ( Michael), Berent Isaac Corkern, Della Rose Perkins, Beverly Perkins, Evelyn Perkins Perpere (Anthony), and James Perkins, Jr. (Susan Schlapkohl). First cousins from his father side are the Roques and Sproles. He was predeceased in death by his parents, James Theodore Badeaux, Sr., and Emily W. Perkins Badeaux and first Cousin Murphy Wilson Corkern, Jr. (Sandra Jennings).
James was in the U.S .Army from 5/27/1954 until 5/24/1957. He received his basic training in South Carolina at Fort Jackson with the 101st Infantry. He attended the Adjutant General’s School for Personnel Management at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He then transferred to Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio where he worked in the personnel office at the compound post and also worked as company clerk at Brooke Arm Medical Center. He received the National Defense Medal and is a Korean War Veteran.
James was a devout Lutheran and past member of Mt. Calvary, First English, St. Paul, St. Matthew, Gloria Dei, Salem, and St. John’s Lutheran Church. He served as congregation President at Mt. Calvary, First English and Salem and Vice-President at St. Matthew. He was head Elder at Gloria Dei and gave testament at Good Samaritan Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New Orleans.
James graduated from Warren Easton High School where he was secretary of the Debating Team and from Tulane University in 1948 with honors and with a major in Political Science and minor in Economics. He retired from Singer Lumber Company in 1995 and Markel Lumber Company in 2005.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church on June 15, 2017, 3937 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:00 until service time at 11:00. Reverend Kenneth Babin will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
