James Edward Forrest

James Edward Forrest, age 78, a resident of Westwego, LA, passed away at home on Monday, August 8, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill Forrest and Evelyn Ripp. Brother of Joycelyn Paulk and the late Geneva Martino. Beloved husband of Betty Lirette Forrest. Father of Bonnie Stringer, Robert Forrest, Jamie Forrest, Mark Forrest (Linda), Keith Forrest (Anette), and Stacy White (Scott). Grandfather of 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his grieving pup Taco. James was retired from Offshore Navigation as an electronics tech. He retired from the Jefferson Parish Drainage Dept. as superintendent. He was driving a truck for Venture Truck Line which he owned and leased to them. He was still driving for them when he became ill last year. He was in the Korean War in the Bridge Unit. He belonged to the Masons, Lodge 479 A&AM and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6793. He was formerly married to Josephine Vinet. Father of Debbie Olinde (Will), Gary Forrest, Rockie Forrest (Dolores), Jimmy, Phil, Linda (Jody), and the late Danny Forrest. Grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
