Mr. James La Forest Jr. passed on Saturday, February 1, 2025 and has gone to rest in the Lord.

To everybody he was known as Jimmy or Coach La Forest. He was a lifetime resident of Marrero, LA. Born in Lockport, LA to the late James J. La Forest Sr. and the late Angelle Leblanc La Forest. He was an honorable Marine, policeman, councilman of Jefferson Parish and taught for over 40 years in the Jefferson Parish School System. He worked at Jakes Seafood and Jake was a lifelong friend. Jake and Donna along with their family were very close to Jimmy. He is survived the mother of their child, Eva Billiot. His son James J. La Forest III and his granddaughter Darian La Forest were his life-long loves. He was always present and provided for them. I love you DAD! And to the Father in heaven for blessing my life with him. Hallelujah! In his last months he befriended Candace, his caretaker, and she gave him happiness and he loved her too!!! We are thankful that the Lord blessed my Dad with her and his salvation before the end.
