James Edmund Leithman

James “Jim” Edmund Leithman entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the age of 84 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was the cherished husband of Antonina “Ninette” Leithman. Loving father to Philip Gerard Callegan (Wife Robin) and Phyllis Callegan Ledet (Husband Rob). Special uncle of Dena Culotta Cicero (Husband Jody) and Jan Culotta Clayburn (Husband Vance). Wonderful grandfather “Buddy” to Robert Joseph, Jessie Noel, Julie Elizabeth, Mollie Christina Ledet and Justin Edgecombe. Godfather of Andrea “Diddy” Nicolaides. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, the late Robert Edmund Leithman, Jr. and Dorothy Zipple Leithman Culver and sisters, Dorothy Nicolaides and Thelma Lindberg. Mr. Leithman was a US Navy WWII Veteran. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of Serenity Hospice Services and his Caregiver, Ms. Laurie for the love and support given to Jim and his family during his illness. A special thanks to the Alzheimer’s Association for their research, care and support. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2555 Apollo Drive, Harvey, LA 70058 on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 9AM until 11AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martha Catholic Church on Saturday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
