James “Jimmy” Charles Marcello passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on May 16, 2024. Born on October 31, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, Jimmy was a cherished resident of Gretna, LA.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 13 years, Marie Coulon Marcello. His legacy of love continues through his sons Jeffrey Marcello (Karla), Darren Ivicevich (Brandie), and Clint Coulon (Landa); his adored grandchildren Austin Ivicevich, Gabrielle Marcello, Luca Marcello, Marco Marcello, Donnie Coulon, Jamie Coulon Reulet, and Megan Coulon Riley; his dear sister Kathy Creath, and his brother Michael “Mickey” Marcello. He also leaves behind many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Michael Sam Marcello and Cecile Marcello, his sister Marilyn Borne, and his brother Steve Marcello.
In 1962, Jimmy enlisted in the Air Force and re-enlisted in 1990, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant (E7). A proud member of the 926th Tactical Fighter Wing USAF, he honorably served in Operation Desert Storm. Jimmy’s career spanned various roles, including JPSO Service Representative, grocery store owner, business entrepreneur, and dedicated airman for over 23 years.
Jimmy’s passions included being a loving grandfather, enjoying trips to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with friends and family, boating, skiing, fishing, and fixing anything mechanical. He was beloved by friends and colleagues alike, remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Christ The King Church, 535 Deerfield Rd, Gretna, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park immediately after the Mass.
