James Francis O'Leary Jr.

November 25, 1930 — May 31, 2012

James Francis O’Leary, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 31, 2012. Beloved husband of 54 years to the late Elsie Richard O’Leary. Son of the late James Francis O’Leary, Sr. and Uthana Woods O’Leary. Father of the late James John O’Leary (Mary). Grandfather of Erin Brewer (Trey) and Ian J. O’Leary (Amber). Uncle of Barbara Lee, Earl Richard, Jr. and countless Houin and Hageney family members. He played football at Texas Tech from, 1949-1952. He helped lead the Border Conference Champion Red Raiders to their first and only Sun Bowl victory in 1952. James was a devoted Green Wave, Saints and Chicago Cubs fan. He coached the Christ the King CYO Baseball Team to The New Orleans City Championship in 1966. James served in the US Coast Guard from 1952-1960. He was a Regional Representative for 30 years for Reynolds Metals Corporation. A resident of the Westbank for 52 years. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Staff at Heart of Hospice, River Region Hospice and the Oncology Staff at West Jefferson Medical Center, especially Maha, Lauren, Annie, Sedonia and Paulette. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 9AM until 11AM. Funeral Services will take place in the Chapel on Monday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
