Janet Marie Pratt

Janet Blanchard Pratt, a lifelong resident of Marrero, unexpectedly passed away on June 6, 2024 at East Jefferson Hospital while trying to recover from surgery.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Blanchard and Martha Cleveland Blanchard. She is survived by her beloved sister, Deborah (Debbie) Blanchard Pennison (Michael) and their two sons, Bret M. Pennison and Jeffrey P. Pennison. She also leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews, Chris Hattala (Dawn, deceased), Christalin Porche Kenney, Matthew Hattala, Pamela Hattala Orgeron and Karleigh Orgeron. Many friends and neighbors also mourn her passing.

Janet was happiest when spending time with her Special Someone, her “Honey”,  Jon Hill.  Janet was 67 years of age and was looking forward to retirement after working her entire adult life.

Janet was a graduate of Immaculata High School, Marrero, La, Class of 1974. After completing Business School for Executive Secretarial Skills, she first worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 20+ years before being hired by Johnson Rice & Company, LLC, New Orleans, LA. She retired from Johnson Rice & Company last year.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:00am, with a Celebration of Mass to follow in the Chapel. Burial will be private at a later date.
