Janice C. Helton, Harting, Koettel, Tydings of Gretna, LA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2023. She was born at home in Preble County, Ohio to Otto O. Helton of Wolfe County, Kentucky and V. Jeanette McKenzie Helton of Morgan County, Kentucky, who proceed her in death. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Franklin Gerald Helton and Gene David Helton.
Janice worked for Kroger’s for 35 years in Middletown, Franklin, Kettering, and finally retiring in 1997 from the Springboro store, all in Ohio. Following her retirement in 1997, Janice moved to Gretna, LA and married Michael Tydings in March 1998. Janice was a bowler and part of many leagues at Fortner’s Bowling Alley in Miamisburg, OH. She and Mike were on a dart league together and also enjoyed multiple cruises in the Caribbean.
She is survived by her husband Mike, daughters Cyndi Harting Davis (Doug) Southport, NC and Becky Koettel (John Skaggs) Metairie; her grandchildren Angela G. Russo (Clemente Gomez) Winnemucca, Nevada, Nicholas A. Russo New Albany, Ohio and Joseph V. Russo (Freddie) Carson City, Nevada; great-grandchildren Kylie and Ariana Russo, New Albany, OH and Guglielmo and Stanford Russo, Carson City, Nevada; sisters-in law; Geneva Helton Snyder, Bennettsville, SC and Rhonda Helton, Altamonte Springs, FL.; stepdaughter Laurie Tydings, Kettering Ohio and step-son, Brian Tydings, Gretna, LA.
The Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Avenue, Gretna, LA 70053. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Interment will be in the garden at St. Joseph’s Abbey in St. Benedict, LA.
