Jean Jerome "Jerry" Boortz

Jean Jerome Boortz, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died on Monday at the age of 90. "Jerry" was born and raised in Cameron, WI, the son of Robert Boortz and Selma Larson Boortz. Jerry grew up in Cameron with three brothers (John, Wallace, and Robert) and three sisters (Fern, Freda, and Dolores), all now deceased. Jerry attended college at Eau Claire, until he joined the Navy to serve our country in WWII. While stationed in New Orleans, Jerry met and married Marcia Ann (“Tootie”) Bright. For the next 50+ years, Jerry was a loving and faithful father of two children, and husband to Marcia until her death in 1999. In 2007, Jerry married Anne Magruder, and for the next 7 years, remained a faithful and loving husband until his death. Jerry is survived by his wife – Anne Magruder; two children – Claudia Brown Simpson (husband Allen Simpson) and Tracy Boortz; 5 grandchildren – Gisle Scott Brown, Nicole Zeringue, Michael Simpson, Meaghan Rouquette, and Calah Sciacca; 6 great-grandchildren – Brooke Barone, Shaun Barone, Bethany Brown, Billy Brown, Madison Rouquette, and Ian Rouquette; 5 stepchildren – Susan, Tisa, Larry, David, and Danny Magruder (and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren). Public visitation for Jerry will be held from 11:00am until 1:30pm on Thursday morning, April 10, 2014 at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES at 2100 Westbank Expwy, Harvey, LA 70058. Funeral services will begin at 1:30pm. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
