Jean J. D. Fils commonly known as (Boss TOTO) was born on February 14, 1947, in Morency (Cayes). He passed away on January 4, 2023 after losing a nearly two years battle against two types of cancer (Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma). He was 75 years of age. Jean grew up in the city of Aux Cayes where he attended primary school at Frere Sacre-Coeur, a well distinguished Catholic school in the area and he completed the first six years of the school system. But as the first born of his family, he opted to quit school and embraced a professional career to financially help his younger siblings. At a very young age, he decided to join a carpentry shop where he was trained to become a carpenter. He subsequently met his wife Jeanne and later moved to Port-au-Prince with his cousin Joseph for better opportunities. Boss Toto was a hard worker and had dedicated his entire life working to support his wife and five children. Even after he moved to America in April 2011, he continued to work and quickly adjusted to the American system of carpentry and was able to help a few people in the community. Although, new in the area, his kindness made him quite a few friends and was loved by many. He is predeceased by his mother Sainte Anne Caristil, his father Numa Fils, his wife Jeanne Fabre, and his grand-son Sebastien Fils. Jean Fils is also survived by his children: Emmanuel, Gerald, Judith, Didier and Jeanel Fils. His siblings, Bruno and Maude Fils. His nephews: Kervens and Ted Fils. His grandchildren: Isaiah, Victoria, Dylan, Annie, Markley, and Yves-Ryan Fils. He will be deeply missed.
