Jean Cerny Schaubhut entered into eternal rest on July 21, 2024. Beloved wife of Lido P. Schaubhut for 47 years, Jean married Lido at St. Dominic Church in September of 1977. Mother of Lida Wiley (Michael), Karla Youngberg (Kyle), and Lido D. Schaubhut (Amanda). Grandmother of Paul, Ruth, Oliver, Gloria, Calvin, Zuzu, and Winston (children of Lida and Michael), and Rosalie Youngberg (daughter of Karla and Kyle). Daughter of the late Robert “Bob” Cerny of Los Angeles, CA and Gloria Dempsey Cerny of New Orleans, LA. Sister of Robert Cerny (Dawn), Brian Cerny (Katherine), Brent Cerny (Carrie), and Bruce Cerny (Esther). Also survived by sister-in-law Diana Schaubhut, cousin Diane Dempsey, numerous nieces, nephews, and family members. Age 73 years, Jean was born Mardi Gras Day, February 6, 1951, raised in Lakeview New Orleans, then long-time resident of Algiers, and parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. She was a wonderful mother and caring wife who always had a delicious meal ready for family. A talented seamstress, Jean loved to sew dresses and costumes. She loved to dance, eat boiled seafood, and was an active member of Deutsches Haus. Jean worked for Adrian’s Tree Service for over 30 years where she not only performed secretarial duties and holiday tree sales but also skillfully designed and crafted Christmas wreaths and even honeybee hives.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Algiers, LA on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11 am. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held at church from 10 am until Funeral Mass time. Fr. Anthony “Tony” Rigoli, a dear friend of the family for over 20 years, will be officiating.
