Jeanne Modenbach Smith of Algiers, La passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late James “Jimmy” Willie Smith. Mother of Jerrie Smith Frye, wife of John P. Frye of Roanoke, VA and “JoEllen Smith” deceased in 1973. Grandmother of Jennifer Frye Mirgoli. Great grandmother of Jordyn Mary Mirgoli of Raleigh , N.C. Daughter of the late Yvonne Decker Modenbach and Joseph Modenbach. Sister of the late Donald Modenbach. Jeanne studied nursing from Touro where she graduated and became a Registered Nurse. She was dedicated and remained active in the JoEllen Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 3643 Aurora Drive , New Orleans , LA , 70131 on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held Friday morning at the church from 11:00 am until funeral time. Interment to follow at McDonoughville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
