Jeffery Mervin Scarabin

Jeffery Mervin “Buzzy” Scarabin, Sr., beloved husband of the late JoAnn Ragas Scarabin, passed away on June 11, 2011 at the age of 69 years at his home in Port Sulphur, LA. Buzzy was born May 12, 1942 in Burwood, LA to the late Louis M. Scarabin, Sr. and the late Gertrude Landry Scarabin. He is survived by his son, Jeffery M. Scarabin, Jr. (Karren); three daughters, Tammy Huffty (Malcolm), Jenene Ducote (Tim) and Leslie Rollo (Wayne); three brothers, Louis “DD” Scarabin, Jr. (Marilyn), James “Jimmy” Scarabin and Minos Scarabin and one sister, Judith “Judy” Willig (Roy); twelve grandchildren, Brandi, Danielle, Lance, Bradley, Corey (Desirae), Brad, Brittany (Zack), Janna, Angela (Simon), Sandy, Kirkie and Kristian; fourteen great-grandchildren, Charlie, Logan, Hunter, Baby Holdan, Dixie, Dustin, Sydney, Shawn, Simon, Jr., Allison, Shae, Michael and Matthew and Madelyn. Buzzy also leaves behind his pet companion, Tootsie. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles “Charlie” Scarabin, Ernest “Pompy” Scarabin and Wayne Scarabin. He was a lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish, LA, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War and was the former Harbor Master of Port Eads Marina in South Pass, LA for over 25 years. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from 6 PM to Midnight, resuming on Thursday from 8 AM to 11 AM. A Mass will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel. His remains will afterwards rest in Port Eads.
