Jennifer Thuy Linh Vu passed away March 16, 2016. Beloved daughter of Khanh Phi Vu and Ngoc Thi Vu. Sister of Kimberly Vu (Michael Tran), Teresa Vu, Cynthia Vu, and John Vu. Aunt of Dominic Vu and Audrey Tran. Granddaughter of Hong Nguyen (the late Cu Vu) and Que Nguyen (the late Tuyen Dinh).
Age 30 years, a native of Harvey, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Jennifer graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School in 2003, attended the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts, and achieved a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy Pre-Law at Loyola University New Orleans.
Jennifer began her professional career with Congressman Anh “Joseph” Cao (LA-02) as a Legislative Correspondent in his Washington, DC office. As the first Vietnamese-American elected to Congress, Congressman Cao established a Rapid Response Team to assist the communities affected by the BP oil spill disaster. She directed the Rapid Response Team and coordinated with White House Initiative for Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders, Department of Homeland Security, Unified Command Centers, and British Petroleum to address access to disaster relief aid from the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. As a part of the team, Jennifer has traveled to over 15 cities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama hosting roundtables , townhalls, claims fairs, and site visits. In addition, she coordinated roundtable discussions and site visits for members of President Obama’s Administration and Members of Congress with the local community leaders. In February 2011, Jennifer was Team Leader of Development for Watts, Guerra, and Craft LLP, The Cracken Law Firm, P.C., and Waltzer & Wiygul Law Firm.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 7 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 6 PM until 9 PM with a Mass in the Chapel at 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Marrero, LA on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 9 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
